Russian Hill Survey
With an initial grant from the David L. Klein, Jr. Foundation and donations from individuals committed to preserving the historic resources of Russian Hill, the Conservancy has undertaken a project to complete a survey of the architectural and cultural significance of the historic buildings on the west and north slopes of Russian Hill, towards the goal of protecting these resources from demolition or major alterations.
The first phase of this project was the completion of a Historical Context and Inventory of Historic Resources for the residential buildings around Lombard and Larkin Streets on the west slope of Russian Hill. Prepared for the Conservancy by William Kostura, architectural historian, the Context and Inventory was adopted by the City’s Historic Preservation Commission.
Donations are needed to support the next phases of this survey project.
