Parks and Open Space
Telegraph Hill Dwellers’ Parks and Open Space project encompasses a variety of activities to further the conservation, preservation, protection, expansion, and enhancement of public parks and open spaces in the Telegraph Hill and North Beach neighborhoods. In addition to our beloved Washington Square and Pioneer Park, our neighborhood parks also include Jack Early Park, Joe DiMaggio/North Beach Playground, Sue Bierman Park, Fay Park, Transamerica Redwood Park, and the new open space at Pier 27.
THD’s activities include planting trees, preventing the loss of existing healthy trees, preserving and expanding neighborhood parks and open spaces, working to protect public views from our parks, and supporting legislation to landmark historic trees and protect our existing street trees.
The Conservancy is helping to fund the THD’s Parks and Open Space activities by acting as its fiscal sponsor so that donations to the project are tax deductible.
